Given the success of the Pax 2, it was only a matter of time before Pax Labs followed up with a better and improved version which is now the Pax 3.
The Pax 3 has the same appearance as the Pax 2 and works the same way in many ways. However, there are several additions and improvements that make the Pax 3 a must-try especially if you’re upgrading from its predecessor the Pax 2.
The Pax series of vaporizers has always been a symbol of excellent engineering and manufacturing. The manufacturer has retained the size of the device. It easily fits in your hand with just the right amount of reassuring weight.
The shell of the device is built using anodized aluminium with a matte finish that is available in rose, black, gold, teal and silver.
The careful selection of the material means there are no fingerprints and the unique coating is quite easy on the eyes. Most of the interior components of the Pax 3 are built from reputable materials like stainless steel and given the length of the warranty, there’s not shred of doubt of the quality you can expect from the latest addition of the Pax family.
Portability and Discreetness
The Pax brand has made a name for itself making ultra-portable and highly discreet devices. The device has a modest size of four inches. It is small enough to easily conceal in your hand or slip in a purse. You can also put it in your pocket without any bulge.
Another incredible feature that ramps up the discreetness of the Pax 3 is the stealth mode. It keeps your vaping on the down-low by dimming the logo light and aggressively cooling to the chamber between draws to minimise the smell.
Pairing this mode with a low temperature setting can almost guarantee you of getting a decently discreet session with minimal odour.
While the Pax 3 can put out incredible clouds, it’s also nice to know that for customers that prefer to be discrete, the Pax 3 has the features to support your type vaping as well.
One of the areas of the Pax 3 that has received a big boost is its performance. The device is a conductive vape but it’s designed to work like a convection with regards to heating and cooling.
The heat up time of the Pax 3 is dramatically short. Within 15 seconds, the device will have hit the desired temperature and cools down almost immediately after vaping.
The LED-lit petals can now do a lot more than just indicate battery level. Depending on whether the device is heating or cooling, the LED lights will gradually turn from a dark blue to a clear green and back.
The size of the oven hasn’t changed. It still holds a third of a gram which easily converts to about 20 extended draws.
There’s a bulbous protrusion on the second oven lid allows you to pack the over half full but still keep the herbs firmly in place.
The Pax 3 does more than just vape herbs. It comes with an insert that allows you vape concentrates which saves you the trouble of carrying around two devices if you’re a fan of both herbs and concentrates.
Like the Pax 2 the Pax 3 comes with 4 pre-set temperatures; 182, 193, 204, 2150C. It also has a fifth temperature setting that can be customised to anywhere between 182 to 215 Celsius. The custom temperature appeals to vapers that prefer to have a custom vaping temperature in addition to the 4 pre-set temperatures.
In terms of vapour production, the Pax 3 is at par with the Pax 2. With regards to the design, not much has changed and therefore, you can expect a smooth and satisfying draw from the Pax 3 as well.
The Pax 3 has an advantage because you can modify the temperature to your preference allowing for better performance. But it still works through conduction heating. Just as with the Pax 2, the Pax 3 packs quite the surprise with the intensity of the vapour and flavour that it can produce especially given its size.
Ease of Use
If you’ve tried your hand with the Pax 2, using the Pax 3 is fairly straightforward. The device adds an extra mode of operation using the Bluetooth app which allows you to control the device seamlessly using the application.
Other than that, the rest of the operation of the device is the same as the Pax 2 in every way. It is draw activated with only one button that controls everything.
The battery is one of the areas that the Pax 3 has improved on. While the Pax 2 had a 3000mAh battery, the Pax 3 has a 3500mAh non-removeable 18650 battery that gives you 500mAh. It might not seem like much but it will let you squeeze in an extra session or two, making a big difference.
On average, the battery should last you about an hour and a half and takes about 100 minutes (down from 180 minutes with the Pax 2) to fully charge. It’s highly commendable and doesn’t keep you waiting for your next vape for long.
