Ready for a dabbing session?

Let's get started!

What does a dab rig look like?

A dab rig is also known as an oil rig or wax rig. It is a  concentration pipe- a form of water pipe constructed exclusively for the usage of waxes and oils, or "dabs." Dabs is the name given to the wax, shatter, amber, and honeycomb group. This concentrated drug is gotten by a chemical technique that extracts the oils from cannabis using butane oil.

It means dabs are concentrated forms of butane hash oil (BHO), which includes exceptionally potent quantities of THC.

Dabbing is a powerful technique for consuming cannabis extracts. After heating a "dab" of a cannabis extract, one breathes in the vapour via an oil tower or rig to absorb extremely effective THC.

To begin, you'll need a bong adapter.

The bong adapter is the most critical part of converting your bong into a dab rig. It is that little item that changes the size of your bong's joint and switching a dab rig into a bong and vice versa.

So, you'll need an adapter that turns the joint on your bong from female to male, which means a male to male adaptor is required to dab with a bong. The adapter you choose must also be the suitable size for your pipe's downstem.

Then you'll need a dab nail.

Remember that the dab nail you purchase should be the same size as your adaptor. For example, if you have a 14.5mm male to male adapter, it needs a 14.5mm nail.

Nails are available in different types, each having its advantages and disadvantages. Let's take a look:

-Quartz

- Ceramic

-Titanium

These nails are the most prevalent varieties you'll find. Quartz banger nails are popular because they heat up rapidly, yet they're also the most prone to breaking.

People prefer titanium nails because of their sturdiness and durability; however, they're not medical grade, so you must thoroughly season them before you use them, or they might end up tasting bitter.

Ceramic nails, on the other hand are medical grade, so they are less dangerous to use but heat up slowly.

We recommend starting with a quartz banger if you're new to dabbing.A quartz banger produces cleaner, more authentic-tasting vapour. If you're probably thinking what kind of nail to get, quartz, ceramic, and titanium nails are available.

Get your dabbing accessories ready

Of course, you should have all of the essential gear for dabbing. For this, you'll need three essential tools. Let's take a look at them:

-Dab tool

-Carb cap

-Butane torch

-Dab tool :A dab tool is also called a dabber, and it's a long metal or glass instrument used to apply a little quantity of concentrated liquid from a dish on your heated nail.

It's important to know that you can't touch your heated nail, which is why you should have a dab tool handy to apply wax or concentrate on the nail before dabbing. These are available in a variety of sizes, forms, and materials. Your choice depends on your preference.

Carb cap

How important is the carb cap?

Carb caps are minor magical artefacts that allow for effective dabbing. Use a carb cap to enhance the vaporization of your CBD concentrate and to save every drop of delicious vapour produced by heat.

The carb caps for dabbing serve the same purpose as a pipe's carb hole or the slide mechanism that raises the bowl from a bong to remove the smoke. There are several designs and variations available. A carb cap, like dab tools, is available in various sizes and types.

Butane torch

The final tool you'll need is a butane torch.

The thing is, dabs need to be heated by a robust heat source thus, a standard gas station lighter will not suffice. Using a torch will heat your nail swiftly and correctly. Using other heat sources will leave your dab tool cold, your hemp will not evaporate well, and you'll end up wasting your concentrates.

Trust us; you won't like the outcome. So, which would work?

A little or big butane torch will do the job well.

Bong

Of course, how else can you have a dab rig without the bong?

When choosing a bong to turn into a dab rig, there are a few things you might want to look at:

Size

Size does matter; it truly does.

Bong connoisseurs prefer larger bongs for smoking dry plants.

However, for dab rigs, there's a limit. We strongly recommend that you use water pipes that is 15" or less for this set-up.

Design

Avoid weird designs, as they will most likely get in the way. The same may be said for animal pipes. The shapes obstruct the banger and dab nail. Just stick to beaker bongs with a straight tube; they make conversion into dab rigs much easier.

Percolators

For making a dab rig, it's cool to go for bongs with percolators. They should, however be simple. While bong percolators assist to chill and filter smoke, they're ideal for cooling the smoke and providing further filtration.

There's a catch though, too many percolators in a bong will filter out the sweet flavour of your concentrates, dilute them, and reduce potency.

Let's go dabbing!

Generally, converting your bong into a dab rig is straightforward, be sure to follow every step to get the perfect result you want.
