Design

The pod on the Smok Nod has two-tone plastic and can hold one of the two coils that come with the kit. The coil is housed in the clear section.

There’s a fill port located on the side of the pod under the mouthpiece section and is covered with a rubber bung.

The mouthpiece has a simple but comfortable design that actually feels more durable than it looks. If you’re a person that takes first impressions seriously, the pod on the Smok Nord will definitely impress. The pod also has a small window where you can keep track of how much liquid you have left in the pod, which is an exciting feature, and the pod has a 2ml capacity.

Attachment

The pod is pressure-held onto the device. The attachment is firm with no movement or wobbling. At the same time, the pod remains easier to remove when it's time to swap it out, ensuring you get a sturdy, strong device that is easy to work with and change pods.

Coils

Unlike the Novo, the Nord comes with removable and replaceable coils, which you get with purchasing the pod.

The pod has two coils. These include a DTL 0.6 ohm mesh coil and an MTL 1.4 round wire regular coil. The coil selection ensures that vapers with different vaping preferences are well catered for, and your selected coil meets expectations.

The 0.6-ohm coil wicks perfectly using 70% VG e-liquids and the 1.4-ohm MTL coil performed better with a 50/50 blend because it has smaller wick holes. However, it still holds its own against 70/30 VG, but the DL coil performs noticeably better.

Performance

The mesh coil has a relatively loose, restrictive lung hit. The MTL pod seems slightly tighter but is much looser than a regular cigarette. The throat hit is surprisingly commendable.

If you’re looking for a better experience, the 1.4-ohm MTL coil is a better alternative as it allows the device to shine by making the most out of its features. The vapour production with the MTL coils is impressive – as expected. The cloud production is significantly above what you would expect from standard vapes. The 0.6-ohm coils put out even more vapour clouds.

In terms of flavour, both coils do a commendable job. The vape is relatively cool because of the abundant airflow on the device, and the overall flavour is fantastic from both coils. Both coils are carefully designed to prevent dry hits, and with the small window on the pod, you can entirely avoid that by keeping a close eye on your e-liquid levels.

Everything on the pod fits together snuggly. Although the coils don't fit with a click, you have nothing to worry about because they stay in place, and there are no leaks.

The coils use organic cotton for wicking, which ensures consistent wicking and prevents dry hits for vaping too fast. The organic cotton wicks easily and saturates within a short time.

Overall, the coils and the pod perform incredibly well and consistently guarantee a pleasant vaping experience from the beginning to the end.
